Report: Fulham looking to offload two of their Premier League flops as they look to start fresh

|

I’m not sure if I could say this is a case of good riddance to bad rubbish, but it’s about as close as I can get to the truth.

According to reports from Sky Sports (3/9/20, 14:35) Fulham are in the process of trying to sell off midfield duo Jean-Michael Seri and Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa. The pair were both bought in the summer of 2018 during the disastrous transfer window, with Anguissa reportedly costing us £30m with Seri costing £25m, and you could tell just how much they mattered/cared to the club when we went down because they were quickly shipped off on loan deals last year.

Now though under a new regime, and with the club promising to take a more sensible approach to the transfer window, it looks like they will be sold off to the highest bidder, with the club instead going for more sturdy and cheaper options with the likes of Harrison Reed and Mario Lemina.

Is a new CB our priority this window?

Yes

No

We have already reportedly turned down a bid of £22.5m for Anguissa’s services, and whilst I applaud the club for wanting to get as much back on our investment as we can, I would just warn them against trying to bite off more than they can chew.

Because we do need to get as much back as we can, ideally so that we can invest the money elsewhere in the squad, ideally in a left-sided centre-back, but if we scare off other clubs with our high valuations, then we might end up not selling them at all.

And then we’d be stuck with two players who would be financial drains on our teams for the foreseeable future. We’re approaching a new era at Fulham, and we don’t need players who, let’s face it didn’t exactly set the world alight when we were in the top flight last time.
