Renewing Acquaintances!

Being drawn against Chelsea gives two of our player`s the chance to return to a club who they once played for.

Steve Sidwell and Damien Duff both spent time at Stamford Bridge during the reign of Jose Mourinho.

Duff played a significant role in the club stepping up from contenders to title winners whilst Sidwell didn`t quite make such an impact.

But, Sidwell isn`t one to knock his former employers and has spoken eloquently about his time down the road in an interview with the media,

“Going from a club like Reading to a superstar place like Chelsea was an eye-opener but it was great and I loved every minute of it.”

“It did take a bit of getting used to. The pressure was greater because you had to win every game.”

“Chelsea was full of big names, but all of them were very good to me. I learned lots in training and some of the professionals there were the best I`ve worked with. It was a joy to be there.”

“I never had any regrets going. I felt I came on in leaps and bounds there, being in and around top-class people day-in, day out.”

It should be, if picked, quite an occasion for both and a chance to possibly renew acquaintances.
