Ranieri Begins Life As The Fulham Manager With A Crucial Six-Pointer

|

The weekend is fast approaching and we’re all eagerly awaiting the resumption of the Premier League.

Since we broke up for the third international break of the season, there has, as you are all aware, been a monumental change down at Craven Cottage.

With the club sitting at the foot of the Premier League table, the difficult decision was made to axe Salvisa Jokanovic, the manager who led the club back to the promised land and install the 67-year-old Italian, Claudio Ranieri, in the managerial hot-seat.

So far, the Italian who amazingly guided Leicester City to the Premier League title has made all the right noises when it comes to keeping the club in the top-flight of English football.

However, as we all know, talk is cheap.

This weekend, Fulham welcome Southampton to Craven Cottage for a game many feel they just have to win. With just twelve games gone, this fixture is already being declared as a six-pointer.

Southampton, like ourselves, haven’t had the greatest of starts to the campaign and the pressure is on Mark Hughes to, quickly, turnaround the fortunes of the south coast club.

Fulham have home advantage and with two difficult fixtures to follow, ironically against the two clubs Ranieri has previously managed in the Premier League, Chelsea (a) and Leicester City (h), a failure to get a win against Southampton could see Ranieri’s early reign start in the most difficult of circumstances.

But, what are your views on the forthcoming fixture?
