Speculation is rife that Martin Jol is set to make the first moves, in the transfer market, for the Birmingham keeper Jack Butland.

Apparently, Jol is set to make the first bid sparking, as the papers put it, a bidding war with the likes of Everton, Liverpool and Manchester City.

But, the speculation insists that Fulham could be in the driving seat with his current manager at Birmingham City, Lee Clark, remarking about his requirement to secure first team football,

“Even if he goes to the biggest club in the world, Manchester United, and he`s their #2, it won`t benefit his career at all.”

“He is good enough to go to the Premier League and be a #1 without a shadow of a doubt – but he has to make sure that`s what happens.”

“It would be a massive backwards step if he goes to a Premier League club and he is the #2.”

With Mark Schwarzer in the twilight stages of his career, could Jol be about to pull off something of a transfer coup?
