Once again, with very little news floating around the media today, the name of Pogrebnyak comes to the fore.

Our on-loan Russian has certainly made quite an introduction to English football and his hat-trick at the weekend, against Wolverhampton Wanderers, has already thrown him into the spotlight.

Naturally, comparisons are always going to be made with the player he replaced, Bobby Zamora, and although we`ll continue to assess their prowess in front of goal in our ongoing series, we`re also more than willing to pick up on the praise coming his way from his team-mates.

One who has stepped forward to talk about Pavel is Brede Hangeland and our Norwegian centre-back has given his views, to the media, about Pavel and a comparison with the departed Zamora, commenting,

“They have a few similar traits but Pavel runs around more.”

“And it looks like he`s adapted to our style of play in record time.”

“If it keeps going like this, who knows where it is going to end.”

“I`m very happy for him. The goals are one thing but he works so hard and that`s what you want to see, especially as a defender.”

I love the bit about him running around a little bit more, just what are you insinuating Brede?

One Reply to “Pogrebnyak – Praise From Within”

  • bobby was quite adept at standing and holding off defenders while waiting for others to join the attack… Pogrebnyak does more of the running with the ball and then bringing it back to the others players that have come forward…
