The new season is just three weeks away and for many of us it can`t come soon enough.

That first al-important fixture against Cardiff City, could set the tone for the season. A decent win could set us up for the season whilst a loss will see all those fears about a relegation fight resurface.

But it appears that we will start the season without one of our key players, our captain Scott Parker.

The former international was troubled by an ankle injury towards the back end of last season and required an ankle operation to remove some pieces of bone.

Talking about Scott, Kit Symons had this to say to the local paper, West London Sport

“He was able to put 80% of the weight on and came through that pretty well.

“If he`d been a little bit higher on that we`d have taken him to Austria with us on Monday but he`ll stay behind and continue this work.

“He won`t be ready for the start of the season because he won`t get up to speed in time.

“But he`s progressing well. I speak to him every day and he`s quite happy with it, the physios are pleased with him. It`s all looking quite positive.”

Kit also rubbished reports that appeared in the press yesterday inferring Scott was a target for newly-promoted AFC Bournemouth.
