Papa Bouba Diop’s agent has confirmed that a new improved contract has been offered to the player by the club.

The Senegal international has been with the club since transferring from Lens in 2004 and his present contract runs until 2008.

Fulham have made an offer of a one year extension with improved terms.

Craig Hutchinson told Skysports.com: ?We have been discussing for the past couple for weeks about an extension to Papa’s contract.?

After sometimes struggling without Diop’s midfield dominance manager Chris Coleman will be delighted if he can encourage the player to stay.

Hutchinson confidently added: ?We are virtually there with it and we are hopeful of it being done in the next few days as all the ground work has been done.

?He is happy in London and has never declared a desire to leave.?
