Not a Precautionary Measure!

During the second half, when certain players took up the handbag challenge, there was a suspicion that Danny Murphy was substituted for his own safety.

Having already been booked, Danny was sailing close to the wind and many thought a red card was on the cards.

But Martin Jol, after the game, was quick to dispute these claims, remarking to the media,

“It was Danny`s call not mine. He didn`t come off because of the fans, he didn`t get subbed because we were worried about a second yellow. It was because he was hurt.”

“I`m aware of the feelings against Danny from what he said a year ago. It isn`t only at Stoke, I understand.”

“But it doesn`t worry me, and it shouldn`t worry Danny.”

Nothing to worry about then except that an injury may keep Danny on the sidelines!
