Felix Magath has previous with a few players currently in the Fulham squad; recently loan signing Lewis Holtby is one of them.

Those with previous have already spoken out in support of the new boss, the previous that Holtby had with him during the time together at Schalke wasn’t so endurable and a recent ‘swipe’ was taken at Magath in a German interview, long before his appointment at Fulham was even a thought mind.

Does Holtby have any worries about his appointment? Not at all, quite the opposite in fact as he knows this time together was a long time ago and he has grown as a player and harbours no grudge.

Keeping Fulham in the premier league is the aim of each and the Spurs loanee wants to play his part in achieving that.

Holtby was quoted by sky sports as saying: ‘I don’t have any fear. From my point of view, it’s being hyped up right now.

‘I have grown as a player and my time under Magath is already almost five years away.

‘We are both in Fulham to reach one goal and that is staying up. Everything else is secondary.’

Holtby went on to admit his surprise as the sacking of Rene Meulensteen and the appointment of Magath, also talking about his ‘confusion’ about the currently situation.

As things stand Meulensteen hasn’t actually been sacked but Alan Curbishley and Ray Wilkins are strongly believed to have been with Bernd Hollerbach and Werner Leuthard, both with previous working with Magath, in attendance at training this week.
