Niemi to Sleepy Suffolk?

After having dismissed any chance of a move to Premier League new boys, Anti Niemi could be on the verge of dropping into the Championship.

Ipswich Town, guided by Jim Magilton, are weighing up a move for Niemi after moves to sign Thomas Sorensen seem to have become doomed.

Niemi, who has watched as Mark Schwarzer and David Stockdale have arrived at Craven Cottage, has, we believe, received no concrete offers.

At thirty-six years of age, he offers the kind of experience many clubs could make good use of.

Whilst we wait for Ipswich to make a move, their chief executive, Derek Bowden, had this to say,

‘We have made no firm decisions yet on goalkeepers. It is still very open.’

Ipswich could do worse than take on a man who, when on top of his game, is amongst as good as they get!
