After being linked with a move away from Fulham this summer, it now appears that Anti Niemi could be offered the chance to finish his career at Craven Cottage.

Niemi, reputedly tracked by West Ham United, joined Fulham from Southampton for £1.5 million in January 2006.

At thirty-five years of age, it`s probably no secret that his days in top-flight football are numbered. Nevertheless, he is still one of the most capable keepers around, a fact not lost on Lawrie Sanchez.

Therefore, the club are currently in talks with Niemi`s agent, Richard Cody, to ensure the Finnish keeper stays at Craven Cottage.

With regard to how the situation stands, Cody remarked,

“Talks are on-going and I am pleased to say they are going well. Anti is happy at Fulham and so would be happy to sign but we have to see how things progress – though things are looking good.”

Hopefully, the talks will prove to be successful and the position of keeper will not be subject to an extortionate transfer fee as clubs try to take advantage of the cash available to Sanchez.
