Speculation has been mounting over the last few days about the future of our midfielder, Tom Cairney.

Twenty-five year-old Cairney has been a revelation this season having come on leaps and bounds under the tuition of Slavisa Jokanovic.

The press have reported that Cairney is loving life at Craven Cottage and has no intentions of leaving, stating that he believes (quite correctly) he is playing the best football of his career.

But up in the north-east, it appears that Rafael Benitez, the manager of Newcastle United, isn`t listening.

Despite having had one reputed approach for the midfielder rejected, the local media vehicle in the north-east, the Newcastle Chronicle, is of the opinion that Newcastle are confident that they can still get their man.

Hold on tight chaps, as we`ve discovered before, money often talks.
