Our clash with Manchester City is fast approaching; indeed it`s now less than forty-eight hours away.

I guess you could proclaim that the countdown to survival has officially started.

We`re now officially in the last chance saloon, anything other than a win will probably see us playing Championship football next season and all the worries that entails.

Thankfully, whilst there is still a mathematical possibility that we can stay up we`ll cling to it.

If the hopes relating to survival are to last another week, we`ll need to register a second successive away victory.

Normally that wouldn`t sound to difficult a feat until you recall it took us 34 games to win one away game.

It`s a point not lost on Erik Nevland, the striker Roy Hodgson signed in the transfer window. Nevland, looking at our current situation, had this to say recently about our away record,

“Now we`ve done it once, so why can`t we do it twice?”

“It was a great boost to win away last time and end that dreadful statistic. We can do it again.”

That`s what we like to see Erik, optimism by the bucket load!
