After being named as Fulham`s Player of the Month for February, our club captain, Danny Murphy, has come out with some pearls of wisdom that we should all take heed of as we contemplate the last nine games of the season.

The win at the Reebok Stadium has once again ignited our hopes of reaching Europe but Danny wants everybody to concentrate on making sure we finaly stave off the threat of relegation and has remarked on his blog for Eurosport and Yahoo,

“There has been talk about finishing high in the league, and even about European places.”

“However, I am very aware after last season’s dramatic finale that you can easily get dragged back into the relegation battle.’

‘I don’t think you can ever stop worrying about the fact you can be relegated until you are a long way past the magic 40 points mark.”

‘We are only one win away from 40 and probably need two wins to be 100%. It is a very positive feeling to be that close and we have to concentrate on carrying on our good performances and moving on and up in the league.’

What did we say yesterday about Danny speaking a lot of sense?

Looks like he`s proved it again.

  • danny always knows what he is talking about!! i just hope the players dont lose the ambition once we pass 40 points, as they may just see it as a chance to rest, rather than push for europe…..

  • i wish we had that hull game back as well… seeing as hull did the double on us, i guess it was a bit of shrewd business for jimmy to leave us for them…

  • mcbride was a brilliant captian for us,danny has filled in his shoes wonderfully and not waisted brians good work,,brian was god but dans the man!!

  • the only problem i have is that Danny isn’t the most influential player I have seen in a Fulham shirt, or indeed the current crop. and seen as he comes off early practically every game, it lacks a little consistency. otherwise, i am fully supportive of his captaincy, and i am delighted with his work on the pitch!! 😀
