Murphy – Hodgson Better Than Sanchez!

With the season 2007-2008 done and dusted and our survival guaranteed, news is always going to be a little scarce, a part from the odd transfer rumour or tow or the possible reflection on the season that has just gone by.

It was a season that saw us scamper to safety with Roy Hodgson cast as the good-guy after the previous incumbent of the role, Lawrie Sanchez, had been nailed as the bad-guy.

There`s no doubting that under Hodgson we looked less and less to pump it long and instead played some decent constructive football, a fact not lost on the hero of the last hour, Danny Murphy.

Murphy was signed by Sanchez and you`d have thought that given that situation Danny would have been reluctant to criticise him, however, after sampling life under both managers, it`s plainly obvious that Danny prefers playing under Hodgson, here`s what he had to say in a recent interview,

“”He`s given us the belief to keep playing the right way in the situation we`ve been in.”

“For me it`s not difficult because it`s the only way I know how to play. I`m not comfortable playing any other way and Jimmy Bullard is the same.”

(Nice dig at Lawrie there Danny!)

“We were in the bottom three when the new manager, Roy, came in. He believed in trying to play a certain way and credit to him for that.”

Hopefully, Danny`s endeavour will see him rewarded with a new contract this summer!
