Although Fulham go the new season off to a fine start with a 5-0 demolition of Norwich City, Martin Jol didn`t go overboard with his celebrations.

It turns out that Martin had a degree of sympathy with regard to Chris Hughton`s plight and didn`t want to over elaborate with his celebrations considering it was he who gave Hughton his first break in management when he appointed him as his assistant at Spurs, prompting Jol to comment after the game,

“That`s why I didn`t cheer after the third goal. It`s a professional game, I love to win 5-0 but not against him.”

“He did an unbelievable job with me, a fantastic job at Newcastle and Birmingham and I am 100 per cent certain he will do the business.”

It can be a tough game at times can`t it!
