Midfielder Shock

International football may have robbed us of one of our midfield stars.

Reports suggest that Mahamadou Diarra could be facing a spell on the sidelines, a spell that could see him miss a large, if not, all of the season.

The thirty-one year old Mali international appears to have picked up a knee injury in the recent international with Botwana with Martin Jol commenting,

“There`s a piece of cartilage floating so we have to operate. That can be three of four weeks.”

“But if there is damage to his cruciate it will take four, five months.”

The injury could force Jol to look for another signing although having to stay within the restrictions operating in a closed transfer window would bring with Jol further adding,

“We are still looking. Maybe there is another Diarra in the market because sometimes you can do something outside the transfer window.”

With Danny Murphy and Dickson Etuhu having left Craven Cottage, our midfield resources are looking a little light!
