Martin Jol appears to have pulled off something of a transfer coup.

The club announced this morning that they have signed the former Real Madrid and Mali international, Mahamadou Diarra on a contract until the end of the season but with an option for an extension until 2013.

Now 30 years of age, Diarra, reportedly, cost Real Madrid £22 million when they signed him from the French side, Lyon. Fulham have picked the experienced midfielder up for a free transfer after he became a free agent leaving Monaco in the summer.

However, it should be pointed out that the transfer is still subject to Diarra being granted a work permit by the Home Office.
