This remarkable game of ours never ceases to amaze me!

There we were, losing 2-0, when news filtered through that both Birmingham and Bolton were winning, we were as good as in the Championship.

Despite forcing the Manchester City, Joe Hart, into making some unbelievable saves, our play had seen us concede two goals courtesy of strikes through Stephen Ireland and Darius Vassell. Things were looking bleak.

I could see the Fulham bench urging us on but the look in the eyes of the, larger than normal, travelling support told the full story. We were looking into an abyss labelled relegation.

Then out of nowhere came hope, hope in the shape of a comeback that will remain in our minds for many a year.

It started when Kamara turned a hapless City defender inside and out before drilling a shot from an acute angle through the unfortunate Hart`s legs. I looked around but still the expressions on the travelling fans faces were more in hope than actual belief that we could rescue this game.

Then came the moment that provided more hope, Kamara was tugged over in the box and the referee pointed towards the penalty spot. I couldn`t look; I just knew how crucial this Murphy spot kick was.

A miss would see us pushed into that aforementioned abyss. I watched the expressions on the faces of those around me; the instant realisation that Hart had blocked it came with the look of anguish in their eyes quickly followed by that leap into the air as Murphy smashed the rebound home.

Now we believed, now we knew something special was about to happen!

Unfortunately, the games momentum saw the action swing from end to end. Keller achieved hero status for a stunning stop before the realisation suddenly hit me that Kamara had carved out another chance.

Almost in slow motion he drifted past his marker, he burst into the box and then the net rippled; we`d only gone and snatched it at the death!

I screamed, I shouted, I hugged the girl next to me and I`m not afraid to admit I wept tears of joy, because that is how much this club means to me,

If we beat Birmingham next Saturday and if we beat Portsmouth, as they prepare for the FA Cup Final, Saturday 26th April will go down in the history books as the day the ‘Great Escape` became something of a reality rather than juts a dream.

Heroes! Every last one of you and that includes the team, the backroom staff and the thousands that went through ninety minutes of every emotion this wonderful game of us continues to chuck in out direction!
