Matthew Briggs could find himself loaned out this season with Martin Jol to decide in the coming weeks if this will happen.
Briggs isn’t exactly a youngster at 21 but given the injury problems that he has had in recent years in many ways he is in that kind of position that a youngster breaking through would be in and as such desperately needs regular first-team football this season but isn’t likely to get this at Craven Cottage.
As such, even though Jol confirmed he’s been impressed with the defender in pre-season training, Briggs looks set for a loan move to keep him sharp and help move him on as he aims to get back to the form that saw him so hotly tipped for stardom when he was a teenager.
