Living With the Unexpected!

Up until yesterday, Liam Rosenior had been the only Fulham player to play every minute of every Premiership game this season.

Unfortunately, his chances of continuing this remarkable achievement right through to the end of the season were dashed. In a way the manner in which the dream of playing every minute of every Premiership game in a season mirrors our season, a season whereby the unexpected has started to become the norm.

Liam, who has been a consistent performer this season, had to succumb to a virus that had seen him feeling queasy in the first half. At half time he lurched to one side and was physically sick in the tunnel as the teams made their way off the pitch. After making it to the dressing room Liam decided to continue.

The second half started with Liam taking in great gulps of air as he tried to get his body back into shape. However, as the half progressed the virus hit home and Liam was physically struggling to continue and was replaced by Volz.

Continuing with the unexpected theme, it turns out that Liam would have had no choice other than to carry on as Lawrie Sanchez was on the verge of introducing Montella. Strangely, the Italian didn`t have his boots on and the substitution was put on hold whilst he readied himself.

Whilst that was taking place, Rosenior lay flat on his back desperately taking in huge gulps of air but clearly in no fit state to continue thereby allowing Volz to be used instead of Montella.

The rest as they say is history. Volz, an ex-Arsenal player, got caught out of position for the second goal and was the perpetrator when it came to the foul for the penalty.

What was that about the unexpected becoming the norm?
