Lawrie & the January Window!

The forthcoming game against Wigan could prove to be a critical affair.

Wigan arrive at Craven Cottage on the back of a tremendous 5-3 win over Blackburn Rovers whilst Fulham are in a rut, a rut that has seen them lose three games on the trot.

Losing those three games has seen us slip from mid table to third from bottom. A defeat against Wigan would then see us slip to second from bottom, a position that fills all us Fulham supporters with dread.

With our manager, Lawrie Sanchez coming under increasing pressure after a meagre two wins in sixteen games; it`s a scenario that he wasn`t anticipating.

Indeed, after spending in excess of £25 million last summer and having further funds to spend in January, it may call for a rethink of his transfer policy.

After the last gasp defeat at the hands of Newcastle, Lawrie made the following comments regarding his possible policy in January remarking,

“We have earmarked players but I am hoping this group of players get us into a situation where we can look at the transfer window less critically.”

“I would not want to be in the bottom three going into the transfer window. I want to make sure we are in a stronger position before we spend money.”

If that is to be the case then clearly a defeat at the hands of a Steve Bruce rejuvenated Wigan is not on the agenda otherwise we could well be looking to sign a certain Juan Miracle in the transfer window!
