The best rumour we`ve heard today is that Fulham pulled out of the Marlon King transfer because they believed his medical revealed he only had three years at the top left in him.

King, who underwent a lengthy medical, after Watford initially accepted a £5 million bid, supposedly has a deteriorating problem in his right knee, a condition that is rumoured not to be operable.

His medical records show that in November 2006, King had complex surgery to repair a tear in his meniscus but closer inspection revealed cartilage and bone problems. After the operation King missed six months.

Because of this the club asked for the transfer fee to be dropped and the remainder payable in installments, something Watford rejected.

Since these rumours started doing the rounds, King has taken time out to rubbish them remarking,

‘How can I fail a medical when Fulham haven’t pulled out of a deal and talks are ongoing?’

His agent, Tony Finnegan, has poured further scorn on the rumours stating,

‘Reports that Marlon may be finished in three years are utter rubbish,’

‘He will play football comfortably until he is 35.

‘In my opinion, Fulham have used it (knee problem) as part of their negotiation tactics, which they are entitled to do.’

Is the picture any clearer now?
