In one of the strangest stories circulating on transfer deadline day, it appears that Fulham have been thwarted in their plans to sign the AS Roma keeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
Apparently, the Dutch keeper set off for London Heathrow, on a private jet, only for AS Roma to pull the plug on the deal when they realized that the closure of the Italian transfer window, at 18:00 hours tonight, wouldn`t allow them time to sign a replacement.
