Marcus Bettinelli’s injury has left Fulham short, Kit Symons has admitted that a loan move is close with reports saying a deal for Cardiff’s Joe Lewis is close.

Plenty of rumours started surfacing ahead of the Huddersfield game that Lewis was coming to Craven Cottage ahead of that 1-1 draw, however that wasn’t the case but Sky Sports sources are now saying a we’re close to ‘completing a short-term loan deal’ for the 27-year-old.

Symons didn’t say who but did admit we needed someone to come in, who knew who and this move was close, he said.

‘We are looking to bring in a goalkeeper on a short-term loan deal.

‘I have decided who that is and it is close to happening, so that will be a bit of good news.

‘Marcus has damaged two ligaments and we are still waiting on surgeon advice on what the procedure is going to be. But he is going to be out for a good few months no matter what.’

Once tipped as a possible England international, in fact I think he was once called into a senior squad when a Peterborough player but the ‘keeper, who started his career with Norwich, never made that step up and hasn’t found first-team football with Cardiff easy.

Last season he was on loan with Blackpool and finds himself third choice ‘keeper with the Bluebirds behind David Marshall and Simon Moore.

A good ‘keeper, and in the short-term a more than able no.1 for the Whites but you suspect Andy Lonergan will have something to say about him coming into the side!
