I have to admit I was sceptical when Martin Jol brought 35 year-old Giorgis Karagounis to Craven Cottage.

I thought his age would see him struggle in the hurly-burly of the Premier League.

But, as is often the case, I was proven wrong and Karagounis has, at times, shown what a decent footballer he is and I`m sure he`s earned not only my respect but yours as well, something perhaps demonstrated by the fact that he came second in the Player of the Year awards.

Therefore, it really is sad news that the Greek will not be with us next season but he departs the scene with our best wishes and it looks as if Giogos enjoyed his time with us, with his agent, Paschalis Tountouris remarking,

“He will always have Fulham in his heart.”

A bit like us then I suppose.
