Our ageing, nay ancient Greek midfielder, Giorgos Karagounis, saw his Greece side almost book their tickets to the World Cup Finals, in Brazil, last night.

Having made the play-offs, after finishing second in their group, Greece were given a two legged play-off game against Romania with the winner going to the finals.

Last night Greece played their home leg and romped to a 3-1 win, meaning that barring a disaster in Romania, the Greeks will be on the plane to Brazil.

I say – barring a disaster, because the Greeks have become something of experts when it comes to defensive play and if they can hold any Romanian attacks at bay, in the early stages, feel it`ll be a job well done.
