Jol Speaks!

Appointed yesterday (Tuesday), Martin Jol doesn`t have too long to familiarize himself with his new surroundings what with the Europa League starting at the end of the month.

But, as you`d expect, his first day as the new manager of Fulham was spent in the full glare of the media giving interviews.

Naturally, he was pressed on his conversation with Mr Al Fayed about taking on the role and the implications are that Jol is looking to strengthen the squad whilst also already having some knowledge about some of the players already on the books, or as Jol put it,

“We had a good conversation about where we can try to strengthen and get one or two quality players.”

“There are a few players here I still know from my time at Tottenham like Simon Davies, Danny Murphy and Stephen Kelly – they are all very good professionals. I enjoy watching Fulham and I enjoy watching players like Moussa Dembele who I`ve known for a while.”

Having been linked with the post last summer, but with Ajax refusing to entertain the notion of him leaving, only for him to be removed from the post in December, do you get the impression that Jol may just have been paying more than just a casual glance at our fixtures and subsequent performances since then?
