The crushing home defeat, inflicted by Manchester United, has resurrected rumours relating to Martin Jol parting company with Fulham Football Club.

This morning the grapevine infers that Fulham`s hand might be forced with, a possible target, Martin O`Neill, set to take the Republic of Ireland vacant position.

However, Jol doesn`t fear the sack, if it does come, remarking,

‘I have no fear. In the past they used to say ‘have no fear, Martin is here’.

‘Sometimes I worry if the supporters are at my back, but it is better they are on my back than the players’ back.’

‘If you are in the bottom half of the table you have to win games.”

‘It is not as bad as people think, but the only thing is you want to turn it around like Newcastle United did.”

‘I can’t say that I’m used to [boos] because I’ve been at a few clubs where they were probably chanting my name.”

‘They are entitled to [boo]. I will take the blame. I’m responsible and I’m a proud man so I want us to do better and the players know that and that is why they came back in the second half.”

‘I can’t keep coming up with excuses but I still feel if you look at the teams that are around in the bottom half, it’s not easy – we are not Real Madrid.’

We`re certainly not but what else concerns me is that as well as Martin O`Neill being linked with Jol`s job, so is Harry Redknapp!
