Yesterday I questioned why Joe hasn`t made more starts this season. Today I found out the answer.

In a recent interview that Diomansy gave, he spoke eloquently about his Fulham career remarking,

“When I play for Fulham I`m paid to score goals.”

“I`ve scored just one league goal, but I`ve had just three starts in eight games. It is not easy, but I hope to score more than ten goals in the Premier League, without penalties. This is in my mind.

“Now I have thirty games left – no problem.”

“I just need to get scoring. I have one goal – and that is a problem.”

“Fulham spent a lot of money on me – £6m – and I came here to score a lot of goals.”

However, it turns out that since his arrival Diomansy has been carrying a knee injury that has left him not quite fully match fit as he explains,

“When I`m 100 per cent maybe I`ll score more goals.”

He`s also quick to plug (and why shouldn`t he?) a charity project he`s involved with in his native Senegal, a charity named, Open the Future with his sister in Senegal, a charity that has the following aims,

“It helps people with malaria and I want to open a school for young people because, in Africa, people don`t go to school. It`s important.

Finally, he goes on to discuss his long term future at Craven Cottage remarking,

“I want to stay at Fulham for years.”

“We don`t want to just avoid relegation every year we want to play in the UEFA Cup.”

“That is the plan.”

Well let`s hope it come to fruition!

  • You will find that Diomansy flatters to deceive lads, when we signed him he took a while to settle, then after a really good spell he faded again.
Good to have him when things are going well, but when you have to dig in and grind results out he is not your man.
Good luck for the rest of the season and we look forward to entertaining you at Fratton Park.
