It`s Bank Holiday Monday and in true British tradition the weather has taken a downward turn.

But, not that many miles as the crow flies, a football match will be taking place at Wembley Stadium that we had ambitions of participating in.

This afternoon, Wembley Stadium hosts the Championship Play-Off Final with the winners earning a place in the Premier League next season.

For the winner awaits untold riches, for the loser just the thought of what might have been.

Fulham finished the season as the form team in the Championship and many pundits suggested that the Cottagers were the team to grab that play-off place.

But it wasn`t to be.

Our hopes disappeared over two legs, a draw in the home leg and a loss in the away leg, saw Reading march to the final.

Today Reading, managed by the former Manchester United defender Jaap Stam, will take on Huddersfield Town, who edged past Sheffield Wednesday in the other semi-final.

If Reading win they`ll return to a Premier League they`ve previously graced.

If Huddersfield Town win they`ll be climbing into the Premier League for the very first time.

So, who do we want to win?

I`m not sure but my late father once stuck to the principle that the pain of defeat is always eased if the team that defeated you goes on to win.

Therefore, should we be cheering for Reading?
