Is Brown any worse than the rest?

Brown’s ‘tackle on Ashley Cole in the final minutes of Saturday’s London derby between Fulham and Chelsea did not warrant a yellow card according to referee Mark Halsey, yet Halsey was quick to jump all over Fulham players for everything else and dismiss penalty claims willy nilly!!

The television replays showed Brown had been lucky to avoid a yellow for the challenge which left Cole theatrically rolling about the grass.

But Brown considers the hard approach is helping Fulham to overcome the loss of midfielder Jimmy Bullard and captain Luis Boa Morte among others through injury.

‘Up until the hour mark I thought we were really solid, Chelsea were not really bothering us until they changed it round a bit, but they are the Champions and they were going to have little spells in the game,’ said Brown.

‘We are not playing particularly pretty football or passing as much as we would like but we’ve had a couple of injuries of late and we have just decided to make ourselves a lot more solid and harder to beat.’

Is it fair for the media to be so harsh on a hard playing midfielder that without doubt gives his all for 90 minutes of every game?

Cashley Cole certainly seems to have a thespian spirit whilst playing on grass! and he is not the only one, a lot of players are happy to go over the top and writh about a bit when tackled by a ‘controversial’ midfielder.

Perhaps the match officials should look closer at the ones being tackled rather than the ones doing the tackling or does this just add to the arguement of touchline video replays for referees?
