“I’ll have to change soon”: Reported Fulham target insists he wants to leave his current club

|

Could this be the start of something new?

There’s still a long way to go before it happens, but I think this could very well be the first step in making something happen, because if a player wants to leave their current club then this is arguably the best way to try and get yourself out of there.

Speaking in an interview with German outlet Kicker, Philadelphia Union left-back and reported Fulham target Kai Wagner has admitted that it could be time for him to make a move if he is to take a step forward in his career:

“I’ll be 24 in February, so I think I’ll have to change soon. I have set my scent brand here and am ready for one of the top 3 leagues in Europe. Bundesliga, Premier League or Spain, if you like. I want to be a regular there and maybe even make the leap to the national team.”

“You don’t like to talk about yourself, but you have to see that I came from the third division and in America, as many say, became the best left-back in the league.”

How much will Fulham spend this winter?

Less than £10m

More than £10m

I’ve spoken before about the idea of us signing Wagner, and how we might find ourselves in a bit of a sticky situation regarding his usage considering we’ve already got Antonee Robinson and Joe Bryan in the mix, it may need to be a case of one in and one out. It didn’t occur to me at the time that we could potentially have two players fighting it out for the same spot not just on their club team but national team as well with Wagner v Robinson, so that would be something to throw into the mix as well.

He seems to have a pretty high opinion of himself, and if his play can match his words then we could be onto a winner. And let’s face it, given the number of goals we’ve conceded so far this season, could he really be that much worse that what we already have at our disposal?

What about you? What do you make of these comments from Wagner?
