Hughes Puts Different Slant On It!

I`ve often questioned the sanity of playing international football during crucial times in the Premier League season!

I`ve always struggled to see what purpose it fulfils other than boost the coffers of the international federations with the handicap that players are subjected to more tiresome travelling often to get no more than forty-five minutes of action.

However, a quote I noticed in one of those free papers that litter the tube carriages has made me have a slight rethink.

It comes from Aaron Hughes, our club captain, and it puts a different perspective on the life as a footballer dragged down by the constant pressure a relegation fight exerts on the mind, see what you think,

“The fact that I have been able to come away for a few days is a pleasant change and distraction. It`s nice to be able to meet up with the lads and have something fresh in your mind to talk about.”

Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
