It`s a rumour that just refuses to go away!

Although Mark Hughes has expressed a desire to continue the good work he`s started at Craven Cottage there has, we believe, been no concrete movement on his contract situation.

As we understand it, Hughes is still on a one year deal at Craven Cottage and could, quite easily, walk away on June 30th.

Returning to the rumour though, the fact that Gerrard Houllier is very unlikely to return to work has reignited the speculation that Mark Hughes heads the potential list of replacements for the Villa Park post.

I guess it`ll all boil down to one of two things, will Mark Hughes remain loyal to Fulham or will the chance to take the helm at a ‘bigger-club` sway his way of thinking?

Personally, I reckon it`ll be the former but I wouldn`t put a hefty wager on it!

  • I’d be very disappointed if he goes but this is football so who knows, lol some of the papers are saying he has become disillusioned with the way the club is being run????? whats all that about

  • that would be interesting… i can’t see leaving for aston villa… doesn’t make sense to me?

  • I can definitely see him leaving for Villa. Stay, go – just make a decision. I don’t want a repeat of last summer.

  • Can’t see neither Sparks nor Moyes abandon playing EL next season for a club with none of it.

  • Any manager that comes in on the eleventh hour before the season starts and even with limited resources and injuries, does what Hughes did, will naturally attract club owners. Especially when this was achieved with a limited budget. But one thing Hughes did inherit was a group of great players who had played over sixty games together in a season. I think he was lucky to have such a strong squad to work with.
