With the weekend fixture still some way off, the big question of who is going to replace the axed Kit Symons has still to be answered.

It is now two and a half weeks since Symons was axed and, according to the Mirror, two more perspective candidates have distanced themselves from the club.

It appears that the one-time favourite, the former Leicester City boss, Nigel Pearson, has no longer any interest in the vacancy with the inference being that the salary wasn`t of a level he was asking.

Also struck off the list is Steve Holland with Jose Mourinho`s assistant, apparently, deciding that he`d rather prefer to stay on at Stamford Bridge working alongside Jose Mourinho.

Which leads our source to concur that, as we reported yesterday; the Birmingham City manager, Gary Rowett, is the new favourite to succeed Symons and that Fulham will be looking to seek permission to talk to Rowett.

Ironically, it was a 5-2 defeat, inflicted by Rowett at his current club that was the final nail in the coffin for Symons reign at Craven Cottage.
