In an interview with Fulhamfc.com, new striker David Healy discussed his career. In the year two thousand, Healy was a young striker coming through the ranks at Manchester United, finding it hard to break into the first team, he was loaned to Preston North End where his deal was made permanent after a more than successful loan spell.

He played alongside Brian McBride at Preston under David Moyes and said, ‘ “I actually made my Preston debut alongside Brian at Bramall Lane and we developed a very good understanding.’

I`m sure I am not alone when I say this but he is the sort of player any striker wants to play alongside.’

At Preston he was representing his country, Northern Ireland and beams with pride. ‘ Playing for your country is such a great thing and winning games for them is a very special thing.”

On boss Lawrie Sanchez, ‘ There was a distinct lack of confidence amongst the squad and he instilled a belief in us that we could go out there and beat teams no matter what their stature. ‘

On whether Sanchez departure from Northern Ireland will hinder Northern Irelands qualification hopes, ‘ “It will be difficult but we have to believe we can.’

David had a tough time at Leeds United where he sat mostly on the bench, ‘ It was really tough for me, all the talk was about administration and that`s a difficult thing to contend with.’

When Sanchez expressed his desire to bring Healy to Fulham, things certainly looked brighter for Healy, ‘ I spoke with Eddie Lewis about the Club and he had nothing but good things to say and since I arrived he`s been spot on with everything he said.’

Hopefully Healy can continue his rich vein of form for the foreseeable future.
