Healy & Kamara – Fall Guys?

One consequence of the transfer window is that we now have a plethora of strikers!

Roy Hodgson has signed Erik Nevland and Eddie Johnson whilst we also have the duo of Diomansy Kamara and David Healy signed by Lawrie Sanchez as well as the trusty old war-horse himself, Brian McBride. If you throw into the equation the fact that we are also able to throw Clint Dempsey into the front line, you can see we are well provisioned for with regards to forwards.

However, with Roy Hodgson, in the last two Premier League games, gone for a lone striker several of our forwards could be in for a barren time when it comes to appearances.

Unless, Hodgson is intent on changing his formation to 4-4-2, we may see a scenario whereby several of our strikers may not even be sat on the bench.

Whilst we suspect Brian McBride, when fully match fit, is likely to be at the forefront of Hodgson`s mind, we also have an inkling that he hasn`t signed Erik Nevland and Eddie Johnson simply as cover. Common sense dictates that they two are likely to feature prominently in the forthcoming weeks.

As for Clint Dempsey, he showed against Villa, displaying some audacious skills, that he can quite perfectly play in the midfield as well as up front. He also has this habit of scoring which could prove invaluable in cases like ours.

Therefore, reading brutally between the lines, you have to ask if Healy and Kamara could well find themselves as the fall guys.

Is it co-incidence they were Sanchez buys?

Or am I alone in coming to this summary, your thoughts would be most welcome!
