The search for an experienced defender continues.

After one summer long target, Lewis Dunk, signed a new deal to keep him at Brighton and Hove Albion, Kit Symons has had to adjust his plans.

Yesterday the inference was that the Nottingham Forest defender, Michael Mancienne, was top of our wish list and that a bid of £1.5 million had been submitted.

Today the inference is that Nottingham Forest are not prepared to do a deal at that price and are looking for £2.5 million for their player.

Now whether Fulham pursue a deal remains to be seen, however, lurking in the transfer gossip column of the Daily Mirror is the suggestion that Fulham have done a deal for another defender.

It`s being reported that Fulham have agreed a £1 million deal for the Lyon defender Bakery Kone with the 27-year-old Burkina Faso defender agreeing a four-year deal.

We await official confirmation from within Craven Cottage though that Kone is now a Fulham player.
