In a script James Bond fans would have trouble believing, Fulham have had to issue a public statement of denial regarding accusations about Hameur Bouazza.
For some strange reason, it had been suggested by the Algerian coach, Rabah Saadane, that Fulham had informed him that they would not pay his salary unless he missed the next three World Cup qualifying games.
Saadane had remarked,
‘Fulham put pressure on him, saying that if he did not return they would block his salary.’
‘We felt it better to let him go but kept the door open for him return if he can.’
‘When we called him up last month, Fulham did send a medical certificate which said he needed a shoulder operation and we had him checked with a orthopaedic doctor in France, who also concluded it needed an operation,’
These wild accusations were dismissed with a club spokesperson, Sarah Brookes replying,
‘That is nonsense and is not true.”
Well I know who I believe!
