Great News For Fulham Supporters

|

Captain Tom Cairney signs a new contract with the club until 2014.

What a disappointing season it has been for Fulham fans. After the Championship victory over Aston Villa at Wembley last May, and the owners splashing out over £100m on new players, the expectations of a top half finish were ringing in the air.

Now 12 months later, suffering defeat after defeat and a bucketful of goals conceded along the way, we are back in the tough Championship again. However, there has of recent times, been a change in the fortunes of our great club. Following the dismissal of Jokanovic and Ranieri, in stepped the young Scott Parker to take the managerial reigns at a club for the first time in his career.

We cannot hold him responsible for his first four games, losing to Chelsea, Leicester, Liverpool and Man City. A tall order for any new manager to kick off with, let alone a side that was totally clueless throughout.

He has brought some belief back to the players, especially those who with the club last season. With three straight wins and no goals conceded, we have to wonder what the outcome may have been if Scotty had been in charge from the start of this campaign?

NOW THE BEST NEWS FOR FULHAM FANS:

Our fantastic captain has pledged his future to the club by signing a new contract until at least 2024.
I’m sure that Scott Parker being in charge has helped him make that decision. The club must now act swiftly and give Parker the job he wants, to help Fulham back up into the Premier League.

What a great time for Cairney to announce this. Maybe if Parker was awarded the role of manager for next season NOW, others may follow suit? Sessegnon, Mitrovic and even Babel?

Thanks, Tom, you have made the heartache of this dismal season so much brighter.

Oh, and congratulations to you and your wife on the arrival of the new baby.

Loyal, loyal, loyal.

See you leading the team out next season.
