Good Luck Roy!

I can`t be the only person who finds the timing of Roy Hodgson`s appointment as the next England manager to be a bit strange.

I accept that perhaps this is the ideal opportunity, and indeed the window of opportunity for Roy to be given the role but analytically I suggest Roy was in his managerial prime when he was with us.

Roy took us to a different level which culminated in a Europa League Final appearance, an appearance that capped a great run which will be remembered for many a year. Subsequently, the chance to manage a ‘big club` tempted him but success evaded him at a Liverpool side that was on the slide.

A spell at West Brom has seen his stock somewhat restored but the news that England had approached him to manage or country did take everybody slightly aback.

But having watched Roy operate, during his time at Craven Cottage, we`ve every reason to expect him t do a decent job with what many see as a limited pool of players, or as some might say, just how he worked at Craven Cottage.
