The shock announcement that came confirming that Crystal Palace had axed their Dutch manager, Frank de Boer, after just four games is an indication of how the game is going these days.

Patience isn`t a word you`d associate with the modern game as instant success is what everybody wants.

However, the axing of De Boer has resulted in somebody us Fulham supporters have a lot of affection for, getting back into the game.

It was announced earlier today that Crystal Palace have appointed Roy Hodgson as their new manager giving our former boss a two-year deal.

At 70-years-of-age, Roy has a wealth of knowledge that many of the younger bosses in the game don`t possess.

It is Roy`s first job, in club management, since being axed by England after resigning after the defeat at the hands of Iceland in the Euro 2016 tournament, in France.

As you might have expected, Roy has surrounded himself with a familiar face as his right-hand man, with Ray Lewington named as his assistant.

Here at Vital Fulham we`d like to take this opportunity to wish Roy Hodgson all the best on his new appointment.

Good luck Roy, you might need it!
