AMERICAN international forward Clint Dempsey has joined Fulham after being granted a work permit by the British Home Office.

‘We’re pleased this opportunity worked out for Clint. We wish him nothing but the best as he heads to the Premiership,’ said Revolution head coach Steve Nicol on the club’s website.

No details were released, but British media reports said the deal was worth about £2 million ($5 million).

He joins fellow Americans Brian McBride and Carlos Bocanegra at Fulham.

Dempsey, who can play in midfield or attack, represented the United States at last year’s World Cup and scored its only goal. He netted 25 goals in 71 games with the Revolution.

‘I’ve got the green light to go ahead. I’ve been waiting a long time and this move is a dream come true,’ Dempsey was quoted as saying in The Times.
