According to reports today Zoltan Gera will be joining Fulham. Gera turned down a new contract at West Brom and was thought to be close to a switch to Portsmouth with Everton and Celtic after him too.

However it seems the Hungarian has rejected the pompey switch in favour of SW6.

Gera’s move is not due to be announced until next week but his agent Sam Stapleton revealed yesterday that the player had already made up his mind.

One reason for the delay in the announcement is thought to be down to the management restructure after David McNally stepped down from his position of Managing Director.

Your thoughts please…

  • haha! I don’t know much about the player. I know he’s been pretty vital to West Brom, and he must be doing something right to be linked to pompey, Everton and Celtic!

  • Hmmm let me think, my name is Zoltan Gera and I have the chance to play in the Champions league, or the UEFA Cup next season with some big teams that supposedly want me. No, I’m alright thanks i will go and fight it out in a relegation dogfight. Let’s face it – No-one actually really wanted him!

  • Why leave WBA for Fulham? They are in no better position, they have the quietest home fans I have EVER encountered (even beating us 6-1 didnt raise a cheer from them) and he was supposedly settled where he is, his wife recently giving birth. Surely they cant be paying him that much more wages than the albion?
And for all those slagging Gera, he can’t be too bad as he was in the Pepsi ad two years ago with Ronaldhino, Beckham, Raul etc…

  • Last time WBA were in the premiership Gera was the only good thing about the team. I’m amazed they kept hold of him for as long as they have. I’d be more than happy to have him at Fulham, if he comes to us he is likely to get first team football. Pompey are full to bursting with decent midfield players as are Everton. Fulham need to build and Gera is far more likely to play regularly if he comes to us that may be a factor in his decision perhaps?

  • So i assume he will be part of a 5 man midfield then? Bullard Andreason Gera in centre

  • Fulham are willing to pay compensation to Alexei Smertin to release the midfield player from the last year of his contract.

  • From what i remember this guy scores goals from the middle and is also over 6foot and very strond, isn’t that exactly what we’ve been missing?
