This time last season, Fulham were on the charge.

A run of rich form saw the Cottagers reach the Championship play-offs.

Fulham`s form was such that they were predicted to be the side that reaches the Premier League by the most dramatic of circumstances, winning the play-off final.

Sadly, it all went pear-shaped and Fulham never even reached the play-off final, losing in the two-legged semi-final.

This season, Fulham are on a similar charge.

As we prepare to welcome Sheffield United to Craven Cottage this evening, the side have put together a thirteen game unbeaten run.

After reaching the play-off places there is talk of the side capitalizing on this hot-streak of form by grabbing one of the two automatic promotion places on offer.

It is a tall-ask with Fulham five-points behind second-placed Cardiff City whilst also having played a game more.

Marcus Bettinelli, who has re-established himself as Fulham`s first-choice goalkeeper, has spoken to the local media about Fulham`s chances of snatching that second-place, remarking,

“We know it is going to be tough but that is the way we are thinking.

‘If no-one wants to give us a chance this year to get second, that’s fine.’

But, having shown they can mix it with the big-boys during their thirteen-game unbeaten run, Bettinelli remains confident the mission can be achieved, further remarking to the local media,

‘I know it is really tight up there but the boys are full of confidence.

‘We are excited with the way we are playing and we go into games knowing that if we play our football we will be frightening and score goals.

‘We are not going to be silly as we have a lot of teams chasing us as well. We know we are in a good place but it doesn’t mean anything.’

It doesn`t, but there is an air of confidence about the club at the moment and if we can continue to keep the unbeaten run going, don`t bet against Fulham finishing behind Wolverhampton Wanderers and taking that second automatic promotion place.
