Fulham – Zamora Was a Gamble!

The one down side to our fantastic evening yesterday was the sight of Bobby Zamora limping off the pitch with fifty-seven minutes played.

Our top scorer, as we all know, has been struggling with an Achilles injury in recent weeks and many of us suspected he`d miss out altogether last night.

Playing him was always going to be a risk as (Sir) Roy Hodgson admitted before the kick-off when he remarked,

‘I suppose it’s always a risk but he’s had an injection this afternoon and it seems to have sorted the problem. These are risks we as managers learn to take and live with.

It was, in the end, a risk that didn`t come off and now, with Roy admitting that Bobby needs surgery, we hope that he`ll be wrapped in cotton-wool and only unveiled for the final, at the Nordbank Arena, in Hamburg!

But, we expect this recent revelation may well have a serious impact upon on any remaining ambitions of gate-crashing the 2010 World Cup squad!
