Fulham are being linked with a January move for USA international striker Clint Dempsey.

The Mirror says Cottagers boss Chris Coleman is preparing a £2 million bid for the USA international.

Charlton had a bid turned down for Dempsey in the summer but the 23-year-old says he intends to quit MLS side New England Revolution, possibly as early as January.

Fulham could emerge as contenders with doubts over the futures of Heidar Helguson and Collins John.

empsey can play as an attacking midfielder or a striker and the 23-year-old was upset that a move to Charlton collapsed in the summer and now wants to be allowed to fulfil his dream.

‘I want to move on to Europe and try myself,’ said Dempsey.

‘I got some interest, got a little bit of buzz during the World Cup, and that’s always been my goal.

‘It’s looking good, but there a lot of things that still have to happen.’
