At the fourth attempt Felix Magath finally got his first win as the manager of Fulham Football Club.

The three valuable points won still see us firmly entrenched in the relegation battle but, following the second half winner from Ashkan Dejagah there is at last some hope that we can manage another great escape.

Okay, we lived dangerously late on as Newcastle pressed for an equalizer but, following the run we`ve been on in recent times, we were granted the luck that has deserted us before.

One result doesn`t change the dire consequences we`re facing, even more so when you consider that our next game is against high-flying big spending Manchester City, but then again didn`t the last great escape involve a fixture against that very club?

Magath may not be everybody`s cup-of-tea but the first German to manage in the Premier League has an undying belief that Fulham Football Club will be a Premier League club next season.

Following his first win in charge, Felix had this to say,

“The players need confidence and if you lose, like us, two games and only one draw, you have to really trust. It was necessary for everybody we won today. Therefore I was glad.”

And so were we, for once the walk through Bishop`s Park was a pleasure rather than a chore!
