This Friday evening, Fulham play the penultimate game of their 2017 / 2018 Championship season when they welcome Sunderland to Craven Cottage.
With just the two games to go, Fulham still have a chance to achieve automatic promotion, although they need Cardiff City to slip-up in one of their two remaining games, but that’s not beyond the realms of possibility.
At his pre-match press conference, pipping Cardiff City was one of the subjects Slavisa Jokanovic spoke about, remarking to the assembled media hacks,
“I’d prefer to change my position with Cardiff’s. They are in a perfect moment, they are one point ahead of us.
“If it was possible, I would prefer to swap and be in second, and I’d prefer they were chasing us. That’s not the case.
“We must try and do our job. We can’t think about what is going to happen later and if Cardiff are going to be under pressure or not. This is not under my control.
“We have positive pressure before we play against Sunderland. It’s important we don’t make mistakes, but the situation is completely under Cardiff’s control.
“If they win these two games, we can’t do anything.”
As for the result, Slavisa tweeted:

An honest appraisal of the situation and what’s required and one we can’t argue with.
But, like we said earlier it’s not beyond the realms of possibility that Cardiff could slip up, in two of their last four fixtures, the Bluebirds have been beaten, away to Aston Villa and away to Derby County.
This weekend, Cardiff make the long trip to Humberside to play Hull, could the Tigers be set to do Fulham a huge favour?
Fingers crossed that is exactly the outcome.
